Fear prevented me for 11 years from removing the fibroids
Can you imagine that my fear of having a uterine fibroid removal surgery was the reason for postponing it for 11 years and for bearing many disturbing symptoms for all this time?
The diagnosis of my condition and the difficulty of the situation:
My story began many years ago, when I discovered that I had a uterine fibroid. The fibroid caused several symptoms that worsened over time as it got bigger and pressed on the nearby organs. Symptoms included but were not limited to: constipation and urination problems due to the pressure on the bladder. Every time I complained of symptoms over those years and went to consult a doctor, I was shocked by his refusal to deal with my case, because of its seriousness and complexity.
The fibroid continued to grow, and the symptoms worsened. Of course, the result was more pain and abnormal life. I got to the point where I lost hope that I could live without these symptoms and summed up my tragedy that I had to bear the symptoms for the rest of my life, and I was certain that the unavoidable outcome of the surgery was death due to its extreme seriousness.
Postponing of fibroid removal for 11 years:
The results of the risky surgery terrified me every time I thought about it. I considered my duties to my family and realized that I had to fulfill them to the fullest to prevent my illness from affecting them ; so I decided to postpone surgery until they could live their own lives independently and have their own families. I then decided to wait once more until I could see my grandchildren. At every stage, I did this out of fear that my life would end and I wouldn't be able to see my children and grandchildren again. As a result, I experienced years of pain, which I regret because it prevented me from enjoying life due to the doctors' lack of experience.
